How To Solve The Fog Puzzle In Sun Haven

Discover the scary hidden city.

There are two other farms you can access other than the one in Sun Haven. These serve as an extra room for creative freedom and grinding. Withergate is a city hidden away from the rest of the world due to discrimination and fighting. The city is full of monster folk and is basically Halloween-themed.

Sun Haven usually offers a cute, cozy farming life, but the other towns offer different aesthetics. If you prefer dark fantasy themes, you will probably prefer the Withergate farm. Here is how to get there.

To get the quest to pursue Withergate, you must first complete the main Sun Haven quests. They involve speaking to Elios multiple times and doing as he asks. Elios will go off on an adventure then come back expressing that you must head to Nel'Vari and/or Withergate to stop the spread of the dark fog.

These quests will have a red banner on it with a yellow sun.

The Withergate quests will have a purple banner with a crescent moon on it. Your first task will be to investigate the northern forest. The forest is past the train you entered Sun Haven on. There will be a guard in the way who will let you pass, and then you will find Nathaniel and two other guards next to a Snaccoon. You will have to grow ten Wheats and ten Potatoes to feed the Snaccoon, so that you may pass.

After feeding the Snaccoon, you will receive a Withergate Snaccoon Plush which can be sold for three Tickets.

Continuing North, there will be an open patch with mushrooms that you can use as trampoline pads to access the next area. After that will be a small area of water you can double-jump across and head left. This is where you will enter a dangerous forest with Level 15 enemies.

You can choose to fight the enemies or run away, using your double jump to your advantage when avoiding hits.

Through the forest, you will run into stepping stones that head either West or North. West is just an outcropping of enemies for grinding their drops. Continue up the steps, using your double jump for the last rock. You will come upon a magic seal that you cannot pass. You must speak to Roza at the Barracks to continue.

After going around and speaking to everyone in town, you will have to cook Tomato Juice using a Cooking Pot. One can be crafted using the Crafting Table with 12 Wood Planks and 20 Stones. Tomato Juice requires six Tomatoes and one Sugar.

Sugar can be bought from the Bakery connected to Liam's house.

Claude will reveal that he is originally from Withergate and you will be tasked with speaking to Catherine. Catherine can be found either at her house, the Farming Store, or the picnic table just before the path to the mines. You have to wait two days for Catherine to figure out a solution.

Catherine will have cleared the magical seal, but the purple fog remains. You now have to solve the fog puzzle to get to the other side. There will be invisible roadblocks and the dog will prevent you from going in certain directions. It is essentially a maze.

How To Solve The Fog Puzzle In Sun Haven

While following this puzzle guide, be aware of the dead trees in relation to the character in the images to ensure you are in the right space. At the beginning of the fog, there are four dead trees lined up. At the top of the screen, there is another set of four dead trees, with faded ones in the background.

Initially, head up into the fog where you'll make a short right because you will be instantly blocked, and then up again until you are in the middle of the second and third dead tree.

While pressing the right movement key, hold down Up at the same time until you are able to find an unlocked path leading up. The corner should be just after the third dead tree, and you should end up on top of the fourth dead tree by continuing up and right.

Head all the way to the base of the fourth dead tree on top of the screen, as high as you can go.

At this point, you will be making your way across the screen and there will be less short turns until the very end.

Remember to continuously push against the invisible walls to get a feel for where the corners are if you are unsure as to why you can't turn in a certain direction.

Once you are basically at the top, as in the picture above, you will have to do a series of short turns to actually reach the edge of the screen and escape the fog.

Even though you reach the top, you won't actually get pulled into the next area until you hit that last left turn.

Charon can't ferry you to Withergate without the Heatviper out of the way. There are two ways that you can choose to defeat the Heatviper. This isn't a regular boss fight in that you don't have to actually go into hand-to-hand combat with the thing.

Rastus wants you to collect 250 Sandstone Ore in order to knock out the Heatviper. On the other hand, Linus wants to take the more passive route and feed the Heatviper 50 Sandstone Fish. To get Sandstone anything, you need to head to the Sandstone quarry North of the dragon train and Barracks.

You would have passed the quarry on your way to the Northern Forest. The quarry has construction workers talking next to a sign. Here you can find rocks you can break for Sandstone Ore. The rocks respawn daily. If you go deeper into the quarry, you will find a pond where the only fish you will find are Sandstone Fish.

The Sandstone rocks need a lot of strength in order to break them.

You will have to be equipped with a Mythril pickaxe or higher as well as upgraded Mining Skills for it to not be too grindy.

After giving either Rastus or Linus the materials, the Heatviper will be out of Charon's way. Speak with Charon again to continue down the river, where you will find a dock that leads to the Withergate Sewers or the main entrance to Withergate.

You will be denied access and must traverse through the sewers to get inside Withergate. You have to be well-equipped to deal with the Level 25 enemies in the Sewers, though you could always run past them.

At the end of the Sewers, you will find a ladder and the NPC and potential bachelor, Donovan. He will sneak you into the city and get you your very first Withergate apartment.

Once you access your own apartment, you will have free rein in the town. You can explore and start your own farm on the apartment rooftop. However, the main quest for Withergate continues.

You are not a full citizen of Withergate until you have paid off your apartment with Tickets. Once you are a full citizen, you will get to speak to the Prince and continue your journey toward an audience with the Demon King himself.

There is Withergate-themed currency, furniture, and clothing different to Sun Haven. Seeds purchased within Withergate can only grow in Withergate and will die in any other place such as Sun Haven or Nel'Vari. Likewise, you must craft Withergate crafting machines to use there.

There are three romance candidates that live in Withergate if the people of Sun Haven are not your type. To actually buy anything in town, you have to earn up to three different currencies.

The main town currency is Tickets, which you probably already have a bit of as a reward for farming. Red Carnival Tickets are earned by winning games at the Carnival, East and then North of your apartment. Candy Corn Pieces are actually earned by killing any enemies within the Withergate Mines.
